Cashmere shaker kitchen in Tamworth
This kitchen began as a tired, compact space that struggled to meet everyday needs. The client wanted a brighter, more functional kitchen that felt calm and well organised, while staying within a sensible budget and making the most of a narrow layout.
The Before
The original kitchen felt dated and restrictive, with limited storage and freestanding appliances that disrupted the flow of the room. Its proportions were narrow, similar to a galley layout, which made careful planning essential to avoid the space feeling enclosed.
Technically, the kitchen also required significant electrical work. New appliance positions meant electrics needed upgrading all the way back to the fuse board, with walls and ceilings chased to allow for modern wiring. These hidden works were essential to achieving a safe, future-ready kitchen.
What we did…
-
We designed a classic shaker kitchen in a Cashmere wood-grain finish, chosen for its ability to reflect light while maintaining warmth and character. As a price-group 2 door, it delivered a refined, timeless look while keeping the project comfortably within budget.
A SPECTRA Light Oak laminate worktop with matching upstand was selected for durability and ease of maintenance, paired with a glass splashback to keep the space feeling open and uncluttered. Cabinetry was finished with Block Bar D handles in brushed nickel, adding a subtle contemporary edge without overpowering the design.
Integrated appliances were used throughout to create a seamless appearance, including a NEFF oven and microwave combination and a NEFF gas hob. An integrated fridge and freezer were built discreetly into the layout, alongside a granite sink, keeping the focus on clean lines and practical performance.
-
With limited space to work in, accuracy and sequencing were critical. Cabinetry was sized and fitted precisely to maintain clear walkways and avoid visual clutter. Integrated appliances were aligned cleanly within the furniture to preserve strong sightlines along the length of the room.
Electrical upgrades were fully chased through the walls and ceiling before being plastered and redecorated, ensuring the finished kitchen looked refined rather than compromised by surface trunking or exposed cabling.
-
Central KBB oversaw all aspects of the project, coordinating the full strip-out, electrical rewiring, plastering, painting, and installation. Careful planning ensured disruptive works were completed efficiently before final fitting began.
Clear communication and a structured approach helped keep the project moving smoothly, even with the added complexity of rewiring and making good throughout the space.
-
The finished kitchen now feels light, calm, and far more practical. Integrated appliances and considered storage make the narrow layout work effortlessly, while the Cashmere shaker cabinetry brings a timeless softness that suits everyday living perfectly.
