Blue Fitted Ensuite Bathroom in Solihull
This ensuite began as a slightly awkward space with limited storage and a layout that didn’t make the most of its shape. The client wanted to transform it into a calm, spa-like bathroom with better storage, improved flow, and a more considered use of materials throughout.
The Before
The original room was challenging in both layout and structure. Positioned on the third floor, the ensuite featured sloping ceilings and uneven angles that restricted how the space could be used. Storage was limited, and the overall feel was stark and uninviting, and lacked warmth.
The ceiling pitch created particular difficulty, especially around the basin area, where standard furniture depths wouldn’t sit comfortably.
What We Did…
-
To bring clarity and structure to the space, Central KBB designed a fitted layout using indigo matt cabinetry, creating a strong visual anchor while introducing warmth and depth. The use of fitted furniture alongside modular elements allowed the design to respond to the room’s angles, with a stepped basin unit carefully positioned to work with the sloping ceiling rather than against it.
Worktops in a blue-veined finish complemented the cabinetry, adding subtle movement to the palette. A layered tiling scheme was introduced to define zones within the room. Neutral floor tiles provided a calm base, while a mix of blue-toned wall tiles added texture and visual interest. Around the basin, tiles were deliberately continued and wrapped to frame the splashback area, creating a more considered and architectural finish.
The layout carefully balances each zone, positioning the bath, WC, and vanity in a way that maximises usable space while maintaining clear circulation.

Several technical decisions were key. We built out studwork to create sufficient height for a continuous run of base units, allowing for integrated storage.
Rather than building out the wall for storage, the brickwork was carefully cut to form a recessed shower niche, preserving valuable space while still introducing practical storage. The combination of fitted and modular furniture required precise detailing, particularly where unit depths change, ensuring a seamless transition across the layout.

Central KBB oversaw all aspects of the project, from initial design through to final installation. This included structural adjustments, electrical works, plastering, and the full bathroom fit-out.

The finished ensuite now feels calm, and refined. The combination of rich colour, layered textures, and integrated storage creates a space that is both practical and visually balanced. What was once a difficult space has been transformed into a spa-like haven.
