Low-maintenance open shower bathroom in Tamworth
This bathroom started as a dated space with a quadrant shower enclosure that felt enclosed and difficult to keep clean. The client wanted a simpler, more modern bathroom that was easier to maintain, with a cleaner layout and a more open feel suited to everyday use.
The Before
The original bathroom featured a quadrant shower, older fittings, and finishes that no longer worked well in daily use. In a hard-water area like Tamworth, the enclosed shower enclosure made cleaning more time-consuming, with grime and limescale building up in hard-to-reach areas.
The overall layout also felt visually busy, with multiple materials and fittings competing for attention. The client wanted a bathroom that felt calmer, easier to live with, and more durable over time, without unnecessary complexity.
What we did…
-
We reworked the layout to create a calm, low-maintenance bathroom centred around an open shower design. Scudo Ella furniture in a soft blue finish was chosen to introduce colour without overwhelming the space, paired with tall wall-hung storage to keep everyday essentials organised and off the floor.
To simplify the scheme and improve durability, the bathroom was fully tiled using Callika Mist Grey porcelain tiles on both walls and floor. Chrome finishes were selected for the shower and tapware, keeping the look clean and timeless, while a Scudo Vivid LED mirror with demister added practical lighting and everyday convenience.
-
The open shower was formed using a Scudo Nano Easy Screen and square two-way chrome shower, allowing the space to feel open while remaining practical for daily use. Pipework for the radiator was carefully concealed within the wall rather than brought up through the floor, resulting in a cleaner, more refined finish.
Easy-clean surfaces and durable materials were prioritised throughout, making the bathroom well suited to long-term use in a hard-water area. Every detail was considered to balance simplicity, functionality, and a neat, uncluttered appearance.

Central KBB oversaw all aspects of the bathroom renovation, from initial design through to final installation. The project included the full removal of the existing shower, complete wall and floor tiling, plumbing and electrics, and the installation of new furniture and fittings.
The toilet room next door was also coordinated as part of the works to ensure a consistent look and finish. Careful planning and clear sequencing helped keep the project running smoothly while minimising disruption to the home.

The finished bathroom feels clean, calm, and practical, with an open layout that is easy to maintain and comfortable to use. Thoughtful detailing and a simplified material palette have transformed the space into a bathroom that works effortlessly for everyday life.
