Modern modular bathroom with reeded shower glass in Tamworth

This bathroom renovation began with a dated layout that felt enclosed and difficult to maintain. The client wanted to create a brighter, more modern space with a stronger sense of calm, better use of space, and finishes that would be easier to live with long term.

The Before

The original bathroom featured a quadrant shower enclosure, vinyl flooring, and tired fittings that no longer suited the client’s needs. The enclosed shower and older materials made the space feel closed in and hard to keep clean, particularly in a hard-water area like Tamworth.

There were also structural limitations within the room. The existing brickwork was weak, which meant concealed fittings could not simply be chased into the wall. Any redesign would need careful planning to ensure both functionality and a clean, refined finish.

What we did…

  • To create a bathroom that felt refined, contemporary, and easy to maintain, Central KBB specified Scudo modular furniture in the Bota Fluted Stone finish. The vertical detailing adds texture and depth, subtly echoing the linear theme carried throughout the space. This was paired with a Scudo Bota basin and a Koko bronze mixer tap, introducing warmth and contrast against the lighter surfaces.

The tile selection was carefully considered to balance elegance with practicality. Large-format Calacatta Silk Gold polished porcelain tiles were used to create a clean, light backdrop, while Baywood Oak ceramic tiles were introduced as a vertical feature. The combination delivers visual interest without overwhelming the room, blending marble-inspired veining with a softer, textured accent.

Bronze fittings were chosen throughout to tie the scheme together, complementing the fluted furniture and adding a cohesive, modern finish. A recessed, wall-hung toilet was specified to keep the layout feeling open and uncluttered, while the Bluetooth backlit mirror with demister adds both functionality and a subtle sense of luxury.

  • The build required careful technical planning to achieve the finished look. Weak brickwork meant sections of the walls were built out to accommodate concealed shower valves, the Scudo Eco-Stone shower tray, and a floating toilet system. This also allowed for the creation of a recessed shelf, adding practical storage without interrupting the clean lines of the space.

Hard-water conditions in Tamworth were a key consideration. The reeded shower glass features a smooth internal surface to reduce limescale build-up, making everyday maintenance easier. Every element was selected to balance refined design with long-term practicality.

  • Central KBB oversaw all aspects of the bathroom renovation, coordinating the strip-out, structural works, plumbing, electrics, tiling, and installation. Each stage was carefully sequenced to ensure the build progressed smoothly and efficiently.

Clear communication and attention to detail ensured the finished bathroom matched the original design intent, while care was taken to minimise disruption and respect the client’s home throughout the process.

  • The finished bathroom now feels calm, modern, and beautifully balanced. Thoughtful detailing, refined materials, and a well-planned layout have transformed the space into a bathroom that is both easy to maintain and a pleasure to use every day.
